ECATEPEC, Méx.-El presidente municipal de Ecatepec, Eruviel Ávila Villegas, también dirigente de la Federación Nacional de Municipios de México (FENAMM), calificó como un retroceso en materia de derechos humanos la posible entrada en vigor de la llamada Ley Arizona, mediante la cual se pretende en dicha localidad interrogar a cualquier persona, ante la sospecha que viva de manera ilegal en Estados Unidos.
“No es posible que en pleno siglo XXI se tenga una ley con estas características, discriminatoria totalmente.
“Coincidimos con el gobernador del Estado de México, Enrique Peña Nieto, en el sentido de hacer un frente común entre los gobiernos federales de México y Estados Unidos, las entidades federativas, y en lo que respecta a los mil 510 municipios agrupados en la FENAMM, llevaremos a cabo las acciones legales procedentes para que se sepa en Arizona que los alcaldes de México estamos indignados y lamentamos esta ley que atenta contra nuestros hermanos latinoamericanos y mexicanos en especial”, afirmó.
Eruviel Ávila hizo votos porque se reconsidere y no entre en vigor esta ley promulgada el 23 de abril por la gobernadora de Arizona, Jan Brewer, mediante la cual se faculta a los agentes policiacos a interrogar a cualquier persona sobre su situación migratoria, ante la sospecha de que se trate de alguien que vive de manera ilegal en ese país.
“Seremos respetuosos de las distintas instancias, analizaremos los integrantes de la mesa directiva de la FENAMM las acciones a seguir, pero que la opinión pública internacional sepa del interés de los alcaldes mexicanos, de nuestra preocupación por esta ley discriminatoria, un retroceso en el respeto a los derechos humanos, y hacemos votos porque no entre en vigor”, expresó.
Por ello, reiteró, la Federación se mantendrá solidaria hasta las últimas instancias legales que los gobiernos federales de ambos países y de las entidades federativas del país, así como los organismos internacionales lleven a cabo para evitar que se atente contra el respeto a las personas sólo por sus características étnicas.
